Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction
This accessible six-week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Course is a condensed version of the full eight-week program first developed in 1979 by world renowned Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn at the Center for Mindfulness, University of Massachusetts Medical School.
MBSR has been proven to be effective in enhancing wellbeing in both clinical and non-clinical populations. The benefits of mindfulness include:
- Increased ability to manage stress
- Reduction in symptoms of depression and anxiety
- Enhanced focus and attention
- Improved decision making
- Increased self-awareness and awareness of others
- Higher levels of resilience and emotional intelligence
- Improved quality of sleep
- Improved immune function
Over the six week period, you will be introduced to exactly what mindfulness is and how it may differ from other forms of meditation. I briefly explain the science and solid evidence base behind mindfulness, including why it works from a neuroscience perspective. We also discuss how toxic chronic stress can be and how it impacts your mental and physical health.
We will then dive into the ways mindfulness can help you to manage stress and how to work mindfully with your thoughts and emotions. Each week we build on simple practices as you learn to integrate mindfulness into your daily life so you can achieve the proven benefits of a regular mindfulness practice.
Course participants will receive a copy of my e-book Turning Toward What Matters: An introduction to mindfulness and downloadable MP3 guided meditations.
